Benchmarking: Marketing/sales for business model consultants

Hi,

I am working as a management consultant (my own company). I have been focusing on organization and leadership but as I am becoming more and more experienced with Alex's business model concept I would like to expand my business with business model innovation/optimization (I have former experience and education in business strategy). I would very much appreciate your comments on my questions before I try this.

1. How do all of you reach new customers? I find that many people do not understand business models (but they think they do) and it's not that easy to explain it quickly on the phone. Any tips? (In Sweden I find that business plans, not business models, are the main concern, and of course the strategy etc that are connected to the business plan/goals.)
2. A website explaining my offer and the business model canvas could help to some extent. Is there any copyright issues (or similar issues) regarding this? Is it ok to use the business model canvas on a website if I give credit to Alex or do I have to make my own version of the canvas in order to avoid copyright problems. Maybe this question is for Alex to answer.
3. Has anyone tried any kind of marketing to gain new customers? Results? What did you focus on/how did you get the message across?
4. Examples of your sales "pitch" (hate that word)? What works and what does not work?
5. Any other tips?

Very thankful for all comments and tips. Thank you!

/Jonas

Jonas, we are going to set-up a creative commons license to formalize the use of the Canvas. As long as you put a link with BusinessModelGeneration.com under every Canvas we are totally happy with you or anybody else using the tool. The more people know about the Canvas, the happier we are.
Great Alex! Thanks!
