Hi,

There is a small watch company that creates design-strong swiss made watches using mostly very high quality components. The price range goes from USD 400-900. They would like to increase brand-awareness in South-East Asia but have little to no marketing budget. What business model could be adopted?

Thx for your inputs!

Some ideas, in no particular order:

Financing. Sounds like your target customer segment will be young professionals who are buying in to an "aspirational" brand. Average $650 is a fair amount of spend - comparable to a new smartphone. But my smartphone runs apps! While my watch just tells the time.

Channels. Selling direct to the customer will cut out distribution costs, and retailers will want to take a big bite out of your average $650 selling price. Going direct cuts costs and gives you the opportunity to lower selling prices, and compete with the established brands.

Mass customization. If it is a small watch company it sounds like it is a very labour intensive manufacturing process. How hard is it to change manufacturing process to enable each watch to be "customized" to user preference? One thing about your target customer segment is that it is very fashion conscious, and some ways "sentimental".

Hope that's useful!
