Business Model Implication in Service Industry
I am a student at Karlstad University. I and my co-partner in thesis are writing our final thesis about the Business Model implication in Service Industry. Our approach is by detail literature review, come up with a theatrical framework for the Service Organizations. But we are still searching and reading articles, conference papers and reports. Right now our focal point of research is on following key words business model, canvas business model, service science, goods to service transition.
Our purposed topic of thesis is " Understanding Service Implications and Fusion in existing and new Business Models- A Qualitative Study of Business Model Canvas Ontology"
We would like to hear your comment and suggestions that can help us proceed further in the right direction.

Yes Patrick! we have came across many types of services as well. But our focus is more towards theoretical perspective of business models in service industry. Like there is alot of discussion and research going on about GDL to SDL and service science.We are studying those aspects in business models.we are trying to narrow down our study as much as we can on this level and explore it bit more in future.
Furthermore, me and my thesis partner we both are intending to go for PhD after completion of our master's thesis. And we are quite interesting so far to carry on our research on Business Models and Service Science.

Hello Usman,
Your thesis topic sounds truly fascinating. I think Partick's feedback is spot on. I know in my work formerly as an Enterprise Architect I had to study reference models common and across industries... for your purposes you may also find common elements to use in your work specifically. If you put your "EA" hat on...a number of sites (Open Group) for example may also have some material/insights to help you better focus your search and/or point you in the right direction.

With "narrow scope" I would be interested to understand different use-cases of certain value propositions.
To me, it's a bit confusing because, taking a business model as unit of analysis sound like a infinite research, something you want to avoid early on.
E.g. if you only take the context of web services, you'll find 9 different directions http://digitalenterprise.org/models/models.html
Hmm.. maybe it helps for a discussion
