I've been asked to facilitate a strategic renewal session of a Kidney Foundation as a donation. I'm thinking of using the Business Model canvas. Has someone experience in using this tool for not for profit organizations like a kidney foundation. Has someone ideas of changes and adaptation to be made in de canvas. Thank you in advance of contributing to the donation of the Kidney Foundation.

Hi Frank

I just ran two pro-bono sessions for not-for-profit social enterprises and they loved it. See my post in the Forum discussions.

The key thing is to help people co-develop it on a gian poster. Simple thing is to project slide on a wall, say picture is 2 metres by 1 metre (say 6ft by 4 ft). Stick butcher paper on wall so that slide picture is now butcher paper. Use large notecard size post-its, doodle pictures and connect. Capturing this in video would be great!

Let me know what the aim of the kidney foundation is and we can come up with a high-level canvas very quicky. But the key is the foundation should 'own' it and they should help create their picture!

Good luck!

Thank you for the advice. I was planning to put a gigantic paper Business Model Canvas on the Floor. so that the participant can move around it. My motto is have fun, Learn as a group and individual and get maximum value out of the excercise

Hi Alex

Take a look at the attached which I crafted looking at the Australian Kidney Foundation. This might give you a kick start for your initiative.

Good luck and best wishes
