I've recently used the business model canvas to prepare a business partnership negotiation and it was very helpful in helping me think thought in a systematic way the various aspects of the deal.

In Alex's original phd thesis - Business Model Ontology (that preceded the BM Generation by a few years), he has a very good look at partnerships as part of the explanation of the 9 components. The ontology focusses on the components of a business model and adds some analytical models for some of the components (individually or in combinations).
