The Action is hotting up in the cloud computing space. With Oracle moving in with support of Amazon EC2. Lots of players in the Infrastructure as a service (IaaS) like Amazon and Platform as a service (PaaS) like Google app engine, Windows Azure.
So the clash of business models is very interesting. With Oracle offering hardware (from Sun acquisition) with its own full software stack from DB, middle ware and enterprise applications on top in a single piece. HP is selling hardware, as is Dell. IBM also has a full cloud strategy which is offering its hosted products in the cloud. Cisco trying to get into virtual switches and the big storage player is EMC.
The lack of competitor for VMWare, with just feeble attempts by Citrix is noticeable. So the question is which kind of business models will win in the race to bring in more revenues through cloud computing. Alex, please throw some light on , if the breaking up of the Telco business models into three is also applicable in the consolidation of IT and Cloud Computing Business Models
