We are all preparing for the big tournament to start. The Netherlands is almost Orange, South Africa yellow and green I guess the same goes for Brazil. I can almost here the vuvuzela here in Amsterdam. Alex believes Switzerland will make it to the finals.

Co-create!
But how does the http://www.fifa.com business model look like? And how does the model of the hosting country South-Africa look like? What is the proposition, customer segments, revenue and costs? We are curious. Therefore we like to inspire you and challenge ourselves to draw the business model.

How?
First, we will build the model the next few days with help of your input. Second, we will visualize it and send it to you all as a co-created visualized model! You can then use it in your presentations, workshops, case studies as an example or nice visual.

Adapted model! (version 2)
Based on your input I modified the first set up into the 2 models FIFA and South Africa WC 2010. Take a look here... Look forward to your comments...

Hi Lesley,

Very interesting topic. Who would be this WC new youngster? And does FIFA get a revenue share for that? I will try to visualize this with a question mark...

Thanks and greets from Amsterdam!
Hi Pat,

Looks great. I think there are some more segments for clients in there.

If you look only at the TV viewers. You have the "normal" viewers, but also the ones who pay extra for receiving soccer in higher (HD) quality. In the Netherlands you can see all the games in HD if you want to pay more than the "normal" fee for standard television. I think the organisation will earn even more because of the different rights of different companys?

And what about the soccer players? Are they resources? And what about the activities... should there be playing soccer in that? Without that activity their is no worldcup at all?

In customer relationship you could add all the different "specialist" on the television? Even before the WC2010 has begone there is no day without some kind of television programme about information of WC2010. I think this is a really great way to build the relationship with the clients (soccer lovers...).

In channels you could use bookmaker offices. There are so many ways to bet on WC2010. Or all the shops and store who give away "free" collared tools. Even if you really dislike soccer, you know that there is a WC2010 (except if you are from another planet?).

So... I hope this gives you some food for thought. Difficult in English however :).
Hi Jelle,

Let's not forget about the actual soccer activity ;-) The viewer options are interesting but go beyond these two models to keep it simple. Yes, bookmakers...

Thanks for the food... Cheers Pat
hi!!!, excelent .

I think, in the right side of de model something like...
Customer Segments are all the wolrd, companies that make advertising, all the leagues of soccer around the world interested in good soccer players and the host country because it brings the attention of everyone in it and it helps boost their economy.
The chanels can be the web, ITC, ticket stores, pay per view...
and for the revenue streams i think in the fees for ad, sales from tickets.

The relationships can be "i love soccer".
Hi Andres,

True. I will take your input and process it...
You'll see...

Cheers Patrick
Hi Patrick,

What fun. My contributions below:

Channels - Web 2.0 (Facebook, Twitter, UTube, Flicker)
Customer Relationships - "Why you should love soccer", "Join the soccer movement" (this for attracting new fans)
Key Activities - Prizes to local pubs or tourist spots
Key Partners - Vendors (food, merchandise) Transportation authority (how to keep traffic flowing during the event and deals for attendees), Hotels (special deals for attendees)
Revenue Streams - Raffles to future events or a trip

Cheers,

Ravila
Hi Ravila,

Great to hear from you ;-)
Great new input, thanks!

Cheers Patrick
There are more Partners, including the role of SA Government as Partner and the importance of security. There are transport, food and logistics and the list is massive indeed in each of the 9 boxes.

It may be useful to pose a question as to which of these 'players' would benefit from their current business model and what would the new one be.

Let the group agree on one of them given the big picture and then build from there!
Hi Cheenu,

I will put two new models out there and see how we will take it from there...

Thanks! Patrick
Hi Patrick,

Where would you put co-marketing/advertising. In the Netherland almost all retailers have their own WC-gadget they offer when customers buy stuff for let's say 5 or 10 euro. I'm not sure about the costmodel behind that, but if they pay FIFA a fee for that, does this fit in with the merchandise or should we create an extra revenue-stream for this? Or is it a stream that flows outside the FIFA of WC businessmodel?
Hi Petrick,

As Mike was explaining there are licenses for merchandising out there.
These should be in the value proposition of the FIFA model...

Cheers Patrick
Hi Patrick,

This is a great idea, I'm going to propose this discussion on the BarCamp Cameroon (http://barcamp.org/BarCampCameroon) of this year.
I have to do a presentation on Business Model Canvas, and this will be the example I will propose.

Will bring the feeback....

Regards.
