The Business Model Hub1.0 has served our purpose of writing a book well. Now that we achieved this goal the energy levels (i.e. discussions) are close to 0.

To revive the Hub, we propose to open it up for free to a global audience and modify its structure on the fly. The new goal of the Hub will be to
Connect a global audience of business model innovation practitioners and researchers to foster the exchange of knowledge and experience and build further tools...
So many people are now using the Business Model Canvas and the content of the book. It is becoming urgent to connect all these experiences in one place - on our Hub!

What do you think?

I think that more people need this material and opeing up the Hub is one way to do it. Here is why,

My work with the Canvas and its techniques has been with early stage companies trying to get their business model right as well as refine it as they go forward.

Since we started our dialogue in Jan 08, the Canvas, its techniues and power to stimulate undertsanding have been used to help nearly 50 clients in many, many types of businesses. One of my clients in NC, (Mountain BizWorks in Asheville, NC www.mountainbizworks.org) is adopting it as their standard vehicle for providing business coaching services and evaluating lending applicants. They have ordered a book for each of its offices and will be using the books material as one of its basic reference for validating a client's understaing of the business that they are in, who the customers are, how they make their money and the key operating assets they need to go the next step. Lending decisions will be based on applicant assessments in part rooted in the lessons of the Canvas and book.

To repeat, by all means, let's broaden the reach of the material to more than Hubbers and business management advisors. Opening up the Hub will be a useful step to that end.

Yes, I also support the approach. I would add that it would be great to enable the hub with a Google Wave like application where the buz/sharing/updating/collaboration can be more interactive as it is exposed to the world. I'm keen to hear how BMI is producing results, what are the approaches people take, how are they trying it at various levels of the organization.
Hi Alex :
Opening up the Hub : Yes we must and yes we love it.

Let´s start a new stage of the BMG conversation and let the sunshine in.

Cheers for the Amazon launch.
I think it's a really good idea and a logical continuation of the successful hub.An open hub would be the forum for questions, ideas, cases, expeiences, values and tools around business models and innovations. Other areas that could be of interest are the business model connection to e.g. enterprise architecture including business architecture, operating model (MIT) and balance scorecard.

Congratulations to the good ranking on Amazon.com.
Certainly, the new audience will need immediate attention. Inviting them here would be a good way to induct them into the BM Generation. I feel like, the need to create subgroups to better facilitate the interactions.
I think it´s great!!! Eager to participate!
I wholeheartedly agree. Being open should help the hub to remain vital and advance our knowledge of business model generation.
Alex,
Sure it is a good idea to get into the new wave of BM 2.0. But before you open up to the whole wide world, you could define its mission, vision & goals and may be create a subgroup (like www.businessmodelhub_v2.com) so that we do not mix up the BM 1.0 and BM 2.0 versions. This 2nd phase has to serve a different purpose alltogether.

Alex,

great to continue and enlarge the hub-experienece (I've done lecture in University on the Hub Experience) , but I also believe that we need to create a community of professional user of the BMI and Business Model Canvas , with the goal to create a sort of certification of consultants spread around the world, that work in affiliation to make seminars, speech, consultancy, and so on.
I'm involved in Strategic Maketing and Innovation management consulting to small medium firm, in Italy and I'm using BMCanvas in different way and it is a outstanding methodology that bring value to many different context. We need to connect all the people that are using the canvas to bring value to their customers to keep high the skill and certified the professionals in the network.
Alex what do you think about creating a "profit" global network of consultant in BMI ?
