Teaching BMG
I am about to teach BMG in my MBA class. I was wondering if other people had used the book and toolkit for teaching yet and what tools you migh have to share? PPT/Video links/ Cases using the tools. I should have some good examples to share over the next couple months.
Attached is my class syllabus for anyone who wants to see how I incorporated the book.

Really interested in this and I would be keen to hear how it goes and share any tools / exercises that you find useful. Not sure that I currently have a lot to offer you apart maybe from suggesting you take a look at an online tool which allows groups to create online BM Canvas and stick post-it notes etc.

Mr. Lambert - I am getting ready to use BMG in my Executive MBA course at UW-Milwaukee, along with some other non-traditional texts that add to the visual thinking strategies presented in BMG. I'll keep you posted on how things work out. Thanks for sharing your syllabus.

I used the canvas in my college level fitness marketing and entrepreneurship class last winter and in my Entrepreneurship course for Recreation and Leisure Students. The students are required to write a rudimentary business plan in either class. I used the BMG model to have students walk through the narrative of their ideas BEFORE commencing on the actual business plan. They had to present their business idea to me using the canvas to explain it. It allowed the students and I to explore areas of the idea before they committed to research and drafting up financial data.
Being college level I stayed at a very basic level of introducing the BMG material. I did not get into the various business model innovations unless the opportunity presented itself during my one on one sessions with each group. I was also at a disadvantage as I was unable to get a copy of the book last winter since I live in Canada. So I was piecing elements of the book together through Alex's website, the free first 72 pages (I provided the link to each student...), and the power points on slideware etc....
I don't teach those courses again until the winter - just teaching marketing courses this semester so I have not yet looked ahead at how I can better integrate the ideas, but the process of teaching and the end results were much better than the previous year.

Like Stephen, this is part of a larger series of lecturers for final -year Bachelor of IT students on Entrepreneurship and Innovation and the students do an assignment where they have to develop a limited business plan. They start with identifying an idea using creative techniques.
They use the Business Model Canvas to define and develop the idea into an opportunity. After that they continue with working out the resources, the team, strategic aspects (marketing and competition) and the financial aspects.
