The VISA business model is not as intuitive as the usual business models. Matter of fact, VISA, unlike any of us would possibly infer, is actually a public-traded company enlisted in the New York stock exchange.
VISA provides payment product platforms to banks in order to provide credit and debit card services for their customers. VISA manages an “Open-loop payments Network” and does not issue credit cards or serve credits to customers.It is an excellent example of a multisided platform business model that encourages “cross-side” network effects.
