Fiverr - A Solopreneur's Dream

Always lots to do in a solopreneur's day because they usually like doing it all themselves and if they can't do it all themselves - they agonize over how they might be able to get it done :-).  Well, my favourite tool these days for a bunch of those tasks that I can't get done myself is Fiverr.  This is not a plug (actually it probably is in a pure sense) but just appreciation for a nice little tool.

Fiverr is one of those internet based services that allows other solopreneurs around the world to offer their services ("gigs" in the Fiverr vernacular) to everyone - for $5!  From the service provider's viewpoint it's a chance to earn a little extra money, get some publicity and build a network, and perhaps to test out new products and services.  And really, you can get it done for $5!

What have I used it for?  Mostly things where I lack the artistic/design skills and don't feel that a lot of agencies and other firms are really worth the money.  For example:

  • the logo of my business;
  • a draft SEO plan believe it or not;
  • the design of my solopreneur business model pyramid outline;
  • business card design;
  • online spanish lessons;
  • etc.

Has it always worked perfect?  No, I've had a couple of duds but in general, people are so worried about getting a bad reputation that they have worked fairly hard to get it right.  Also, if it hasn't worked perfectly (and sometimes this has been my fault for not clearly understanding what I was asking) what's the loss?  A couple of emails and $5.  Much better than paying $500 for someone to do the exact same thing for you and take up even more of your time!

So, if you are keen on having someone do some stuff for you and your small business that is of high quality, cheap and benefits all sides, check out Fiverr.  I love it!
