Don't let the Canvas limit your business model thinking

Posted on October 23, 2015 at 8:26am 0 Comments

How to model Uber in the BMG Canvas?  Shouldn't the key activities and resources of the Uber driver, e.g. driving and a car, be included too! And what about a strategic partner? Shouldn't their key activities and resources be included too? See for some more detail on these ideas: http://fieltnotes.blogspot.com.au/2010/12/extended-business-model-canvas-for-co.html

Business Model Canvas or Business Model thinking?

Posted on May 23, 2013 at 9:13am 0 Comments

The Business Model Canvas presents us with a great tool for the design and innovation of business models. As with every specific approach or tool, the Canvas can also bias or blind us. This can be caused by the features of the tool itself as well as from the way in which the tool is (wrongly) used.

What business model patterns do you know? What classifications are you aware of? Have you only looked at the ones in the BMG book or are you also familiar with others?

Hi Erwin

Sorry to be so long getting back to you; busy time. I have, and continue to, enjoy your postings and find them exceedingly interesting.

I'm at the cusp of leaving my government position and trying a start-up in business design and innovation. Should be a very interesting year.

Cheers, all the best;

Mike
