Stretching the use of the canvas

Hello BMers,In the last weeks/months I have been experimenting a bit with introducing the canvas in the current practice of the Business Innovation department at my company, which I am in charge of.I would like to share with you two cases.Case oneThis method focuses on conducting a SWOT analysis with the support of the canvas, which is a rather conservative idea since parts of it are already described in the book. You can see an outline of the process in the images below. Once you have your…See More

Profile Information

Why are you passionate about business models and business model innovation?
I focus on trying to achieve a better life, both for me and for others. This involves a lot of Designing and Testing of ideas. Doing that with products and services alone is necessary, but not sufficient. Businesses are the key to bringing value to people, and business modelling allows to define and refine your ideas in this sense before moving on to detail. I find this high-level mode of operation of greatest importance, as well as great fun!
How would you best describe your level of expertise when it comes to business models?
knowledgeable
What's your URL?
http://www.ibv.org
Who do you work for? What do you do?
Institute of Biomechanics of Valencia (IBV)
I am the Head of Innovative Business Initiatives. In this area we set up new businesses aimed at improving the quality of life of people by combining the knowledge and technologies developed in-house with others'.
What industry do you mainly work in (e.g. financial services, telco, utilities, public sector, academia, pharma...)?
All sorts of companies with a focus on wellbeing: automotive, pharma, healthcare, footwear and clothing, implants, sports, elderly, tourism and leisure, workplace ergonomics, etc.
What is the size of the organization you work for?
101-1'000
Do you want to add anything? Feel free. Any topic.
I have used the BM canvas since September 09 to model our business ideas and to help other companies make strategic decisions.
I have also combined it with another tool we use to analyse the past evolution of companies in order to detect patterns. This stuff is still on the works but is very promising.
