I was even considering more carefully the customer's problem. There's the famous old Levitt quote, "A customer doesn't want a 1/4 inch drill; what they want is a 1/4 inch hole." A customer doesn't necessarily want…

Why are you passionate about business models and business model innovation?
I've worked for start-ups that have succeeded (acquired) and failed, as well as companies as large as EDS and Microsoft. I consult with companies as "old school" and threatened as Microsoft as well as brilliant new model start-ups and open source based foundations. It's not the technology that's disruptive, it's the business model.
How would you best describe your level of expertise when it comes to business models?
I help software companies and web companies develop their business models and strategy, from start-ups to Microsoft. I'm especially interested in Christensen economics and open source software development and standards development. I've been a developer, a start-up founder and executive, a writer and a consultant.
What industry do you mainly work in (e.g. financial services, telco, utilities, public sector, academia, pharma...)?
software development
What is the size of the organization you work for?
freelance/independant
