Great point ! Supported by the awesome book Blue Ocean Strategy by W. Chan Kim and Renée Mauborgne. I find it really intriguing to marry the blue ocean strategy thinking with this Hub thinking.
Why are you passionate about business models and business model innovation?
my area of interest is in business models that are specifically designed to be meaningful to all stakeholders. I believe this is where business is headed, and provides the greatest form of competitive advantage, leading to sustainable financial success. I have been a design executive in large US corporates for 15 or so years so bring both that experience and a particular focus on applying design thinking to business model creation.
How would you best describe your level of expertise when it comes to business models?
I am a founder of shiftalliance, a business that is both a think tank and a consultancy focused on helping businesses develop more meaningful business models. We have developed 231 best practices for developing meaningful value, researched from businesses in several industries. To manage these we have also developed software that allows us to de-construct and re-construct business models from the perspective of meaningful value creation.
What industry do you mainly work in (e.g. financial services, telco, utilities, public sector, academia, pharma...)?
think tanks / business management consulting
What is the size of the organization you work for?
1-10
Do you want to add anything? Feel free. Any topic.
The Business Model Innovation Hub has been a great inspiration for our business. While we have developed a different 'canvas' based on our particular focus there is great synergy in what we're doing. While we are not as sophisticated as Alex in terms of the community development he is leading, if anyone is interested is seeing our approach and software please let me know.

Yes, Tim, that is indeed a goal for later on. I already gave a workshop on social entrepreneurship in London last year. There, the participants worked on the triple bottom line... We'll pick up on the subject after this book is done in a more focused way...
