... where visionaries, game changers, and challengers discuss business models
We deliver sepcialist Performance Management services - how to hold difficult conversations, engaging the workforce in their performance etc. A huge amount of what we deliver requires groups of employees to get together for training and engagement sessions. It works, but its slow. The HR professionals inside the busines find it harder and harder to get people to attend, and even when they do, it can take months to roll out a solution to a client. E-learning has of course had an effect on some aspects of corporate learning, but not really proved effective at developing, managing and engaging people.
Linked to this is of course the current business model for providing corporate training which is broadly dysfunctional. As an industry, it is pretty terrible at generating profits primarily because the cost of sale is too high and the barriers to entry very low. The industry is hugely fragemented ( over 10,000 suppliers of managemetn development in the UK alone), the prime 'pricing unit' is cost per day, and its very hard for buyers to assess value before they buy.
'm looking at using the canvas to see if we can help HR teams devise a different business model for delivering their results, at the same time as creating a different model for ourselves. Has anyone else looked at HR or any other 'support' operation, and got a draft canvas to share?
