check out the
Innosight blog's 12 November '09 post on Tesla's potential biz model for service/support for their electric cars -
http://www.innosight.com/blog/discuss/464-tesla-introduces-the-geek... -- interesting idea - obviously one can find lots of potential problems with this model, but if they get the right initial target market and really deliver the type of 'experience' value they plan, and therefore are able to get value-based pricing, this could be huge and will be interesting to watch - especially if they 'downscale' and come out with models the 'common man' can afford. But the whole electric car industry dramatically changes the infrastructure including selling - see how Best Buy (USA) is moving into
selling electric vehicles - initially scooters/bikes but longer term, why not small on-road vehicles - like a new car being developed and sold in Cleveland area by
Myers Motors - a cool car! Now an issue is classifying what this is - is it a 'automobile'? a motorbike? is there a category for this so the US's motor vehicles bureaus can figure out how to license and tax it?
