I have agreed to become a Mentor for a team participating in an NSF Icorp launchpad program for validation or otherwise of new product incubation.
The initial tool to be used in the process is a Business Canvas Model which I have not used before by Alexander Osterwalder. Has anyone any experience of using this tool?

I am very familiar with the connection between the Alex Osterwalder (business model canvas) and Steve Blank (ICorps - customer development). If I can be of any assistance you can contact me through the Hub or

Hi Mike,

Many thanks for your speedy response, appreciated.Now that I know the origins, I can review the archives to at least educate myself on the practical use of the tool before I leave in a few weeks

Hi William;

The Business Model Hub originated as the community advising Alexander Osterwalder and team on the writing of Business Model Generation, source of the business model canvas.

There were 470 people involved who reviewed chunks of the book as they were written,  and provided input on design and the tools of the book. After the book was published the Hub was opened to the public for membership as a place for people to discuss the business models, and in particular the use of the business model canvas.

Though conversations recently have drifted to other topics around business models and business design, the ore of the community is the canvas. You can review the archives for extensive discussions of the canvas.

I am a Strategyzer certified coach and trainer, and there are many other people in the Hub well versed in the BM canvas and its use. Strategyzer is the source of the business model canvas as well as the value proposition canvas detailed in the Value Proposition Design book.
